Agartala: Dec 03: Like every year, this time too, on Dibyangan Day, the ministers of the concerned department and the department went to bed. Divyangan Day was celebrated in Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan with great pomp. On this day, the International Divyangan Day was held under the initiative of the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education in the presence of the Minister. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the state government is working to ensure that the Divyangans do not lag behind in any situation, so that they too can live like normal people. Divyangans have created many things with their own hands, which a normal person could not create. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also expressed the opinion that everyone should pay attention to the fact that Divyangans are separate from the society. But despite the many demands of Divyangans shouting throughout the year, the voice of the government does not reach the ear.
And when Divyangan Divas comes around the year, it is a day in the year from office officials to ministers who sweat their heads and feet. And stand on the stage and give a big speech. But government forgets that the Divyangans are a part of the society and that the society can move forward through them. All should be limited to international days.
Various organizations and experienced circles of Divyangans are of the opinion that it will be impossible to move the society forward if we do not come out of it. West Tripura District Council President Antara Dev Sarkar was also present in the organized event. He forgot to mention the word Divyangan while going to various events on this day. The Prime Minister of the country has called upon the countrymen to use the word ‘divyangan’ instead of the word ‘disabled’ to respect the physically challenged because even if they are physically weak, development in society is possible with them. So to respect them, the President Antara Dev Sarkar forgot to use the word Divyangan instead of the word disabled. But to make such a mistake in such an important position is usually unprecedented. In the event, various items were provided to the beneficiaries Divyangan as per their requirement including moving equipment.
