Agartala, December 30: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Maink Saha expressed the government’s commitment to elevating healthcare facilities, aiming to establish the state as a medical hub.
He was speaking at the 37th State Annual Conference of Agartala Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society in Agartala on Saturday evening.
Saha highlighted the collaborative efforts of the state and central governments, with recent substantial fund allocations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration.
Saha emphasized the swift establishment of a dental college in Tripura, made possible by support from the central government and the Dental Council of India. The 50-seat dental college boasts top-notch infrastructure in the North East region.
Updating on financial allocations, Saha revealed that the Ministry of DoNER provided over Rs 700 crores under the PM-DEVINE scheme. Notably, Rs 205 crores were allocated for the dental college, Rs 170 crores for a mother and child care center, and substantial funds for addiction centers and 100 health sub-centers across the state.
Highlighting the government’s efficiency, Saha asserted that the term “double engine government” translates to double-speed progress.
He announced the recent cabinet approval of Rs 2500 crores for a new highway construction from Khowai to Harina in southern Sabroom, signaling a promising future for the state.
As a dental surgeon himself, Saha urged fellow doctors to be socially responsible and dedicated to serving the community.
