Agartala, December 18:The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) pressed for a judicial inquiry into the recruitment procedures of the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT) and urged the provision of jobs for candidates allegedly deprived despite meeting the required merit.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan, on Monday Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty asserted, “BJP and corruption are complementary to each other.”
The demand for the probe comes as five JRBT aspirants moved to the High Court, which directed a reevaluation of their results within one month and instructed job appointments if they remain deprived despite meeting qualifications.
Chakraborty criticized the BJP, accusing them of corruption despite their claims of “sushasan” (good governance) and transparency.
The High Court’s intervention followed five writ petitions filed by candidates alleging deprivation in posts of Junior Operator (Pump)/ Junior Multi-Tasking Operator, among others.
The examinations, conducted to fill 2,410 Group-C and 2,500 Group-D posts, faced protests earlier in the state due to delays in result publication.
The Group-C posts included 1,500 lower division clerks, 236 junior operator pumps, 209 junior multi-tasking operators, and 443 agri-assistants, among others. While 1.47 lakh candidates appeared for the JRBT exams, the merit list was announced after over a year.
JRBT recommended 1,980 candidates, leaving 430 posts vacant due to the non-availability of eligible candidates.
