A delegation of All India Kishan Sabha, the farmer organization of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), met Director of the Agriculture department in Tripura on Monday.
Led by former Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar, the delegation, conveyed their concerns regarding the significant losses suffered by farmers due to untimely rains occurring on November 16 and 17.
The delegation emphasized the widespread destruction of various crops, including vegetables, paddy, and others, leading to substantial financial setbacks for farmers across the state.
To address these challenges, the group submitted a comprehensive charter of demands, highlighting the urgent need for action.
The key demands presented by the delegation were formation of a special assessment team, immediate financial assistance, timely support for resuming farming, provision of essential resources at no cost, free irrigation and infrastructure repair.
In essence, the CPIM’s farmer delegation seeks comprehensive and timely measures to address the aftermath of the untimely rains, aiming to support farmers in Tripura and mitigate the economic challenges brought about by the natural calamity.
