Agartala October 13: October 13 is International Disaster Mitigation Day. International Disaster Mitigation Day was observed in the state as well as the whole world on Friday. On this day, a disaster response exercise was performed in Secretariat.
Defense personnel, fire department personnel and NDRF jawans participated in the exercise. On this day, in the event of an earthquake, a drill is performed on how to rescue the injured from two-story or multi-story buildings.
Secretariat employees were working in the office during the earthquake on this day. Many workers were injured. Security personnel, fire brigade personnel, health personnel and NDRF jawans were informed on an urgent basis. A relief camp was opened at Secretariat premises on an emergency basis. The fire brigade personnel and NDRF personnel using advanced technology rescued the injured from inside Secretariat and brought them to the relief camp. Health workers at the relief camp provide first aid to the injured. And if necessary, the injured are referred by ambulance to the hospital for better treatment. Food Department Secretary Debashish Basu, GA Department Deputy Secretary Asim Saha and others were present during the exercise. Asim Saha, Deputy Secretary of GA Department said that Disaster Mitigation Day is celebrated in the state along with the whole world. Disaster can strike at any time.
