Agartala, September 25: Congress protested against the state government which has recently increased power tariffs and fees for students in the state university and schools beside asking for advance payment of municipal tax.
Congress spokesperson Partha Acharjee and Prabir Chakraborty during a press conference on Monday in the Congress Bhavan here has threatened to launch a massive agitation against the state government if the additional burden on the public is not quashed.
Acharjee compared the fees structure for students of MA in the MBB state university with some of the renowned universities of the country and showed that it is several times higher than them.
He raise that general professional courses are self-finance but here even for subject like history students have to pay high fees.
The Congress leader alleged that the government does not want the youth to be educated and more over all of a sudden the government has decided to put an extra pressure on the public when they are passing through tough times due to inflation.
The Congress leader urged the government to reduce the hiked taxes and fees to give relief to the public and if the government does not act immediately then they would launch aggressive agitation against the government’s policies.
