Agartala: September 18: Along with the whole nation in Tripura also the celebration of Vishwakarma Puja is underway, but a unique aspect of it can be witnessed at the battalion headquarters of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), located at In RK Nagar, on the outskirts of Agartala. Here, in addition to the customary rituals, there is a distinctive practice of worshiping arms and ammunition.
Troopers from the 2nd battalion of the Tripura State Rifles have reverently placed their arms and ammunition before Lord Vishwakarma, the Hindu god of architecture and engineering.
This tradition is rooted in the belief that seeking the blessings of Lord Vishwakarma will ensure the proper functioning and effectiveness of their weaponry.
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishwakarma is credited with creating the entire universe, along with heaven and Earth. To honor him, the troopers meticulously clean their arms, vehicles, and machinery before offering their prayers. They hope that this act of devotion will lead to favorable outcomes in their duties.
Beyond the religious significance, this day holds great importance for the soldiers and officials, who consider it auspicious for fostering a successful bond with their equipment and tools.
Lord Vishwakarma, seated atop his elephant mount, holds in his four hands an water-pot, the Vedas, a noose, and the tools of a craftsman. His worship on this day serves as an inspiration for many to innovate and enhance productivity, particularly among the working class, who make resolutions to perform better from this auspicious occasion.
