Agartala: Nov 20: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday attended a meeting with police department on the general crime situation of the state.
In the meeting held at Pragnya Bhavan other then the top officials like DGP Amitabh Ranjan, all ADGs, IGs, DIGs and SPs, all ground level officers like officer incharge (OCs) of all 83 police stations including eight women police stations and five railway police stations were also present.During the meeting the CM interact with all OCs to get ground information about the overall law and order situation beside their suggestions to further improve the public service and situation across the state.
At the end of the meeting the CM briefed the media and during which he raised the concerns of the Opposition parties sand said, “Often we get allegations from the opposition that the law and order in Tripura has deteriorated but data speaks that in all sectors it has improved compared to what the situation was prior to 2018.”He added, “Service delivery happens at the police station level and so I wanted to interact at the grassroots level and take their inputs. What information I collected that I would like to share and aware the people of the state that the law and order in all its indicators has improved compared to what it was prior to 2018.”
“Crime in all sections has declined in Tripura since our government came to power in 2018,” claimed Dr Saha adding, “Incidents of murder has reduced by 15 percent, dowry deaths has reduced by ten percent, similarly rape also decreased by ten percent while molestation rates have declined by 35 percent, crime against women decreased by 30 percent and eve teasing has declined by around 60 percent.”
Referring the NCRB report 2021 the CM, who is also the Home Minister, said that out of the total 28 Indian state the position of Tripura in overall crime incidents is in the fifth position from the down and among the northeastern states in drugs seizure and destruction it holds second from the top.He claimed that all these indicators reveal that the law and order has much improved and the state is in better position.
The CM also assured that the government is committed to improving the working environment of the police so that they can further improve their performance.
