The protest was demonstrated Thursday evening in front of the Congress office and later the demonstrators also went through the streets of the capital city and raised slogans condemning the role of the state government of Manipur and central government for failing to protect and restore peace and harmony in that state.
Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman who was part of his party’s fact finding team that visited Manipur to investigate the cause behind the ongoing violence alleged that the BJP government under N Biren Singh for police mileage is not taking step against against the majority community who are the winning factor in 40 out of the 60 assembly seats in that state.
He also raised questions about the role of central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is maintain silence on what is happening in Manipur for more than 70 days.
Roy Barman alleged that the BJP lead government both in the state of Manipur and at the centre are not taking necessary steps against those responsible for violence as it may hamper their future political progress.
They also demanded for immediate reestablish of peace in Manipur and the perpetrators punished.
