Agartala, June 25:
An awareness rally was conducted in Agartala on the eve of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The event, organized by ‘Swapnabodh’ social welfare organization, saw the active participation of several hundred individuals from various walks of life.
During the rally, Debasish Ray, office secretary of the social welfare organization, highlighted the severe threat that drugs pose to the state, particularly impacting its youth.
Ray emphasized the objective of the rally, which aimed to educate people about the perils of drugs and work towards creating a drug-free state.
He added that this initiative aligns with the primary focus of the state government under Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to make Tripura free from the evil curse of drugs.
The rally made its way through the streets of the capital city, with participants spreading awareness and emphasizing the importance of combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the region.
Drug use continues to be a major problem in the world. It’s harmful effects are not unknown to the world. In order to create awarness about the serious impact of drug abuse and to seek international support to fight it out, June 26, every year is celebrated as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
