Agartala, June 22:
Under mounting pressure from the ABVP, the authorities of Tripura University took the decision to place an Assistant Professor on forced leave following accusations of molestation made by a female student.
Vice Chancellor Professor Ganga Prasad Prasain, accompanied by Dr. Chandrika Basu Majumder, Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the university, announced this development today.

Subsequently, written complaints were lodged by the victim and the university referred the case to the ICC, which initiated an investigation.
In response to the allegations, members of the ABVP, a student organization, staged a protest in front of the Vice Chancellor’s chamber, demanding the immediate suspension of the accused Assistant Professor until a thorough investigation into the case was completed.
As a result of the mounting pressure, the university authorities made the decision to place the alleged Assistant Professor on forced leave.
