Tripura’s Opposition leader Animesh Debbarma who after becoming MLA of Asharambari constituency in Khowai district had visited various areas in his constituency recently and interacted with the locals there to identify their issues had on Thursday met with the District Magistrate of Khowai and in presence of senior district level officials of other line departments and raised the concerns especially regarding the crisis of clean drinking water in large areas in the constituency beside other issues such as quality education, electrification and road connectivity.
He said that the issue which existed when Tripura was a princely state even after passing of so many decades still exists in many parts of his constituency.
The biggest concern according to Debbarma is that large section of people are suffering from shortage of drinking water and which was brought before the officials during today’s meeting.
He said that despite being in the Opposition party they shall bring into the notice and also give time to the government so that they can address the issues.
Debbarma said that he has submitted in writing to the DM requesting to resolve the issue and shall wait for a month to see what response is received from the government side.
The opposition leader said that the DM has responded very positively and assured to work on it as the memorandum submitted has been very specific and detailed.
He added that if the government does respond positively then they shall appreciate that and if not then shall have to protest against it.
