The police of Pecharthal police station has achieved great success in the anti-narcotics campaign. Based on secret information, the defense forces seized about 3,000 kg of ganja after searching the oil tanker. Unkoti District Superintendent of Police Kanta Jahangir said that the driver and co-driver of the car have been arrested. He said that the estimated market value of recovered ganja will be 6 crore taka.
Unkoti District Superintendent of Police Kanta Jahangir said that on the basis of secret information, the Pecheranthal police station received information that a large quantity of ganja was going to Guwahati by car. Accordingly, Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kamal Debbarma led Pecharanthal police station on Thursday morning on the Assam-Agartala National Highway No. 8 for checking. The tanker from Agartala was detained and searched as soon as it arrived at Pecharthal. He said that it was possible to recover about 3000 kg of ganja by searching it. The market value of which will be approximately six crore rupees.
He also said that the driver Priyalal Debbarma (26), a resident of Madhya Kalyanpur area, and Paresh Devarbma, a resident of Mandai area, were arrested. He said that the police of Pecharanthal police station have taken up the case against them under NDPS section and are starting investigation.
