Agartala March 6: Eight people from both parties injured in clash between BJP and Tipra Matha. The incident took place in Rajkandi Village area of Phatikrai Assembly Constituency. All the injured are under treatment in hospital. It is to be noted that before the announcement of the election results on March 2, an all-party meeting and a peace meeting of the Election Commission were held by the police administration to maintain peace and harmony in the state.
But the retaliatory violence that started on March 2 after the declaration of the results seems to have risen to create a dark chapter in the state of Tripura. From the leadership of various political parties to the grassroots level workers were present in large numbers in those all-party meetings and peace meetings, but since the declaration of the results, a section of them are trying to create an undemocratic environment in the state of Tripura. According to the party supremo’s comment, activists are indulging in terror since evening. People are panicking. Sunday night was no exception like the last three nights after the declaration of results. The incident that took place this time is in Phatikrai Assembly constituency. Clashes erupted between Janjati Morcha and Tipra Mathar activists at Rajkandi Village. Eight workers of the two groups were bloodied in the clash. Purnamohan Debbarma, district president of Janjati Morcha’s Unkoti district, is among the injured. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Phatikrai Hospital. Meanwhile, the police went to the place of the clash after getting the information about the incident. Workers in two groups were able to control the situation by negotiating with supporters. Paramilitary forces have been deployed for extra security in the area. The police have started an investigation into the incident.
