Agartala, March 7:
Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport on Saturday on maiden two-day official visit to Tripura, where he is scheduled to attend a series of official programmes.
The Vice President was accorded a warm welcome upon his arrival at the airport by Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura, and Chief Minister Manik Saha.
Also present to receive him were Rajya Sabha Member and Bharatiya Janata Party state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, along with senior civil and security officials.
During his two-day stay in the state, the Vice President is expected to participate in several official engagements and interact with dignitaries and officials as part of his visit.
He is scheduled to pay tribute to martyrs at the Albert Ekka War Memorial, visit the Tripura Sundari Temple (Matabari) in Udaipur, and grace the 14th Convocation of Tripura University on March 8.
He will interact with Self-Help Group (SHG) members and ‘Lakhpati Didis’ at the International Fair Ground in Hapania.
Tight security arrangements have been put in place across Agartala and other programme venues in view of the high-profile visit.
The administration has also made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the Vice President’s scheduled events in the state.
