Agartala, January 23: Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Friday paid rich tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 129th birth anniversary, observed across the country as Parakram Diwas, recalling his fearless leadership and unwavering patriotism that continue to inspire the nation.
Participating in a programme held at Maharajganja — the largest wholesale market in Agartala — the Governor offered floral tributes at the statue of Netaji and remembered his unparalleled contribution to India’s freedom struggle against British rule, which ultimately compelled the colonial power to leave the country.
Highlighting Netaji’s ideology, Reddy said that the great leader firmly believed India’s independence could not be achieved through appeals or negotiations alone, but demanded supreme sacrifice. Guided by this belief, Netaji sought support from several foreign nations and went on to form the Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army) to wage an armed struggle against the British.
The Governor said Netaji’s ideals of courage, discipline and nationalism continue to guide generations in building a strong nation.
Emphasising the present-day relevance of his vision, Reddy noted that although India has achieved political independence, true freedom lies in becoming a self-reliant nation.
He cautioned that nations lacking self-dependence often face external disturbances, a reality evident from ongoing global conflicts.
Calling upon the youth to draw inspiration from Netaji, the Governor urged them to come forward with confidence and dedication to strengthen India, transform it into Vikshit Bharat, and establish the country as a global leader.
