Agartala: Jan 21: The 51st Tripura Statehood Day was observed in Tripura capital Agartala. Chief Secretary JK Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, VC of MBB University Satadeo Poddar and other top officials participated in the celebration organised by Information and Cultural Affairs department at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering the DGP emphasising on the importance of improving relationships between police and the society.
He said that peace is prerequisite to ensure development of the state and the state police is working together to ensure peace.
The DGP added that this year the Tripura Police shall celebrate 150 years and is among the oldest police forces in the nation and with such long history.
Meantime, VC of the MBB university viewed that a government which work towards minimising its differences and for the common public is considered a good government and which should be the primary focus of a democratic government but the citizens also have their responsibilities towards the state like protecting the sovereignty, territory, boundary, democracy and integrity.
Poddar also spoke on the journey of princely Tripura ruled by the Manikya dynasty to its merging with India and later from a Union Territory turning into a full state.
Speaking on the day, the CS emphasis on the development of young generation and students especially in the field of education and to work hard for their own career as state’s bright future. A colourful cultural program representing the various communities of the state was also organized during the celebration of the statehood day.
