Agartala, June 14:
Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has strongly urged the BJP-led Tripura government to act decisively on the recent Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) directive mandating identification and deportation of illegal migrants within 30 days.
Reacting to the ongoing situation, Pradyot said the state must go beyond vote bank politics and give a free hand to security forces to stop infiltration effectively. “If the Centre has issued a notification and the BJP is in power both at the state and central levels, then why has no concrete action been taken against infiltrators in Tripura?” he questioned.
He cautioned that if Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s instructions are not implemented, the local people will not remain silent. “Not a single Bangladeshi or Rohingya should be allowed to infiltrate. And if they enter, they must be identified and deported. This responsibility lies with the administration, not political parties,” Pradyot stated.
The Motha chief emphasized that northeastern states, particularly Tripura, due to their proximity to Bangladesh, require more vigilance against infiltration than states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, or Punjab.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the government’s inaction, Tipra Motha has been holding mass rallies across Tripura demanding swift measures. The party has also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene and ensure the state follows through with the MHA notification.
