Agartala, June 2: Amid the ongoing protests by the youth wing of Tipra Motha (YTF) against Gomati District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has called for resolving the issue through dialogue rather than agitation.
The YTF has been demanding action against the DM for his alleged misbehavior with Tipra Motha chief and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma. In response to the escalating protests, Deb remarked, “Agitation does not resolve problems. This is the path of the Communists. The BJP believes that issues should be settled through dialogue.”
Speaking during his visit to a relief camp for flood victims in Agartala on Monday, Deb informed that both Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Pradyot Kishore Debbarma are currently out of the state. “Once Pradyot returns to the country, I will personally speak to him and ensure that the matter is resolved through discussion,” he assured.
The YTF’s protest actions, including locking the gates of the DM’s office in Udaipur and threatening a district-wide shutdown, have drawn significant public and political attention. The youth wing has criticized the state government for its alleged inaction, despite more than a week having passed since the incident.
Chief Minister Manik Saha earlier stated that he had spoken to Pradyot Kishore Debbarma and directed the Chief Secretary to submit an investigation report into the matter. However, the YTF remains dissatisfied, claiming no concrete steps have been taken against the DM, prompting them to continue and intensify their agitation.
The issue remains unresolved, with growing calls for calm and constructive engagement from all stakeholders.
