Agartala, May 10 – Former MLA Burmohan Tripura, who represented the Korbuk Assembly constituency, passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 79. He had been suffering from cancer for a long time and breathed his last at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Hospital.
Following his demise, his mortal remains were taken to the Tripura Legislative Assembly, where several leaders and dignitaries gathered to pay their respects. Among those present were Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLAs Sudip Roy Barman and Deepak Majumdar, and Minister of State Brishketu Debbarma, along with other prominent figures. They offered floral tributes to the late leader and remembered his service to the state.
Minister Sushanta Chowdhury described Burmohan Tripura as a simple and sincere individual. He recalled that in 2018, Tripura had contested and won the Korbuk seat on a BJP ticket, dedicating himself to the development of the region. “He worked tirelessly for Korbuk’s progress and earned the love and respect of its people,” the Minister said.
He added that Burmohan Tripura’s passing is an irreparable loss for the state and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Burmohan Tripura’s contributions to his constituency and to the state of Tripura will be remembered for years to come. His commitment to public service and his grounded personality left a deep impact on those who worked with him and those he served. The state mourns the loss of a dedicated public servant whose legacy will continue to inspire.
Funeral arrangements will be made in accordance with the family’s wishes.
