Agartala, May 4: Member of Parliament from West Tripura and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday spotlighted key educational reforms introduced in the state since the BJP-led government assumed office in 2018. As part of his “Transforming Tripura” series on social media, Deb underscored the adoption of the NCERT syllabus in government schools as a landmark development in Tripura’s education landscape.
Deb stated that the introduction of the NCERT curriculum has aligned the state’s education system with national standards, enabling students to better prepare for secondary and higher secondary examinations. More importantly, he said it has empowered Tripura’s youth to compete effectively in national-level entrance and competitive exams, a challenge that previously limited their opportunities.
Criticizing the earlier Left regime, Deb claimed that the education system under communist rule was heavily influenced by political ideology. He alleged that the curriculum ignored the contributions of national heroes, visionary thinkers, and the rich cultural heritage of Tripura’s royal lineage, instead promoting a politically biased narrative.
“Today, under the guidance of the revised National Education Policy and with the implementation of the NCERT syllabus, students in Tripura are moving forward on a new, progressive academic path,” said Deb. He emphasized that these reforms focus on delivering practical, quality-driven education that prepares students to become confident, capable citizens.
He further reiterated the BJP government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector across the state, ensuring that even students in remote areas gain access to nationally recognized and competitive learning opportunities.
Deb concluded by highlighting that the transformation in Tripura’s education system reflects a broader vision of holistic development, aiming to empower the youth and build a stronger foundation for the future of the state.
