Agartala: Mar 23: In Tripura, a significant event took place under the initiative of the OBC SC and Minorities Forum, highlighting the ongoing efforts to address the socio-economic challenges faced by the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community. Approximately 40% of the state’s population belongs to the OBC category, yet disparities in their socio-economic conditions persist.
The event featured a grand OBC convention, accompanied by a ceremony to honor OBC individuals and recognize the achievements of students. Pabitra Kar, the state secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of the movement advocating for the rights of the OBC community. He noted that the struggle for these rights remains a crucial and ongoing effort.
During his address, Kar reflected on the implementation of OBC reservations during the tenure of the Left government, suggesting that it was not effectively enforced. He called upon the current BJP government to take steps to implement the OBC reservation law in the state, underscoring the community’s demand for equitable opportunities and representation.
