on International Women’s Day, the Tripura Journalist Union organized an inspiring event to honor the state’s female journalists at Agartala Press Club. The event was attended by prominent journalists, including Tripura Journalist Union President Pranab Sarkar, and featured speeches from notable guests like Arpita Saha and social worker Phulan Bhattacharya.
The chief guest, Traffic Additional SP Sudambika R, emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, stating that it’s an ongoing process that requires daily efforts. She encouraged the female journalists present, saying, “Ab nahi toh kab, hum nahi toh kaun?” (If not now, then when, if not us, then who?).
The event also recognized the achievements of female journalists in the state, with the presentation of the “Ananya Sangbad Yoddha” (Unique News Warrior) awards to 70 recipients. Additionally, Reshmi Debnath from Jagaran Patrika received the “Shakti Roopa Samman” (Empowerment Award) for her outstanding work.
The event highlighted the significant contributions of women to journalism and emphasized the importance of Women’s Day. It was a celebration of women’s empowerment and a call to action for continued progress.
