Agartala, February 16: Tripura Police on Sunday presented four arrested burglars before the media, along with several recovered items stolen from the CBI camp office in Agartala.
Subrata Barman, SDPO NCC police station stated that the investigation is still ongoing, as the accused remain in police custody as per court orders for further interrogation.
The burglary, which took place at the CBI camp office in the highly protected Shyamali Bazar quarter complex under the jurisdiction of the New Capital Complex (NCC) police station, involved the theft of several items, including eight steel almirahs, chairs, electric appliances, doors, and windows. The office had been closed for over five months before the incident.
Speaking to reporters, SDPO Barman, along with the Officer-in-Charge of NCC police station, stated that based on the confessions of the arrested individuals, police were able to recover the majority of the stolen items. However, he clarified that no official files related to CBI investigations were lost in the incident.
Police launched the investigation after receiving a complaint on February 11 and swiftly arrested six suspects, who were identified as drug addicts and local residents of the area.
On Sunday, four of them were presented before the media along with the recovered items.
Authorities expressed confidence that the remaining stolen goods would soon be recovered and that any additional persons involved in the crime would be identified.
