Agartala: Feb 04: The CPI(M) Sadar subdivision committee organized a protest march in the city today, expressing strong opposition to the corporate-friendly and deceptive budget presented by the BJP coalition government at the Center. The procession, which began at the fairground, traversed several city roads before culminating in a meeting at Paradise Chowmuhani. During the event, speakers voiced their dissatisfaction with the central government’s budget, emphasizing its failure to address the needs of the common people, particularly in Tripura.
A prominent left-wing leader, speaking to the media, criticized the BJP government for what he called “politics of surprise.” According to him, the 2025 central budget has been presented as a deceptive package that lacks substantial developmental plans for the state. He particularly pointed out that there was no allocation for any development projects in Tripura, a state in the northeastern region, which he argued has been sidelined in the budget.
The leader expressed concern that the central government’s approach would worsen the economic situation for both rural and urban populations. He alleged that the budget, instead of offering solutions, would deepen the hardships of the people in Tripura and other northeastern states, exacerbating existing problems. The protest march served as a platform for people to unite in their opposition to what they see as a neglectful and harmful budget, calling for the government to reconsider its approach and prioritize the welfare of the public.
