Agartala: Jan 29: A 12-member delegation, led by Dr. Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, arrived in Agartala on Wednesday. The delegation includes Finance Commission members A.N. Jha, Anni George Mathew, Dr. Manoj Panda, Somyakanti Ghosh, and other key officials such as Secretary Hrithik Pandey, Joint Secretary Rahul Jain, Director K. Balaji, Deputy Director Kumar Vivek, Assistant Director Sandeep Kumar, PPS Meena Mahendu, and Cashier Rajesh Kumar Sharma.
On their first day in Tripura, the delegation visited the West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat in the Jirania block. During the visit, they were accompanied by key officials, including Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Director of the Panchayat and Land Revenue Department, and the Sub-Divisional Officer of Jirania. The delegation is set to hold discussions with the state government and senior officials about the financial needs and development strategies of Tripura.
On January 30, the Commission will meet with the Finance Department to discuss the state’s significant financial challenges and development plans. Following this, the delegation plans to visit important tourist spots, including the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, Narkel Kunj, and Chabimura in Gomati and Dhalai districts. Additionally, they will engage in discussions with Chief Minister Manik Saha, Agartala Municipal Corporation representatives, and members of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
The Finance Commission’s visit is expected to be beneficial for Tripura’s development and financial planning, providing valuable insights for future growth.
