Agartala: Jan 11: During a routine inspection at Jirania Railway Station, authorities discovered a suspicious unclaimed baggage. Upon inspection, it was found to contain 01 trolley bag and 04 pitthu bags. The contents of these bags included 57 packets, which were later identified as 67 kg of dry ganja. This contraband was seized after observing all legal formalities, as the bags were determined to be unclaimed.
The total market value of the seized ganja is estimated to be approximately 6 lakh 70 thousand rupees. Following the discovery, the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) has initiated an investigation to identify the owner of the illegal consignment and determine the source and intended destination of the ganja.
The operation was carried out as a collaborative effort between the Agartala Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Agartala GRP. Their coordinated efforts in monitoring and checking luggage helped prevent a significant quantity of illicit drugs from reaching the market.
