Agartala, January 9: In a groundbreaking initiative, the ‘Prabashi Tripurabashi Summit’, a virtual gathering aimed at fostering meaningful engagement with Tripura’s diaspora, was held on Thursday.
The event, organized by the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT), marked a significant step towards involving the state’s global diaspora in its socio-economic development.
The summit, hosted in the Chief Minister’s War Room, witnessed participation from 55 individuals originally from Tripura but now residing across the globe.
Senior state officials, including Secretary Kiren Gitte and Pranabanda Sarkar Banerjee, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister, spearheaded the discussions.
The primary goal of the summit was to create a collaborative platform for exchange and dialogue, enabling innovative solutions and strategic planning for Tripura’s development. Secretary Kiren Gitte emphasized the importance of engaging with Tripura’s diaspora, stating, “The sons and daughters of the soil bring invaluable expertise, networks, and experiences. Their suggestions, particularly in sectors like healthcare, education, tourism, skills, and services, can pave the way for transformative growth in Tripura.”
Gitte highlighted that the summit aligns with NITI Aayog’s priorities and expressed optimism about its role in transforming the state into a prosperous future.
Many of these individuals who virtually participated in today’s summit have excelled in various professional fields outside the state. Their participation and insights were seen as crucial to understanding what strategies could work effectively for Tripura’s development.
Gitte said that the participants expressed keen interest in contributing to key sectors like healthcare, tourism, education, and skill development. Their insights, drawn from global exposure and rooted in local understanding, were seen as vital to shaping a progressive roadmap for the state.
