Agartala, December 26: In a sharp criticism of the Opposition, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha remarked that they suffer from “cataract in their eyes,” preventing them from seeing the ongoing development initiatives in the state. He suggested that only surgery could help them acknowledge the significant progress achieved under his administration.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday during a program organized by Nikhil Tripura Mahanam Sebak Sangha to distribute winter wear among the needy, Saha highlighted how visitors from outside the state are praising the developmental activities, while the Opposition continues to overlook them.
“I believe the Opposition has cataract and needs surgery to see the development around them. It will be good for them,” he said.
The Chief Minister, along with Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, also visited a Kali temple where restoration work is underway to raise its height by seven feet. The project, costing around Rs 25 lakh, aims to prevent the temple from being submerged during the rainy season.
Saha stated that the restoration work was undertaken through his personal initiative in coordination with the Agartala Municipal Corporation.
Praising the temple management’s efforts to distribute winter clothing, Saha encouraged other organizations to take similar steps in supporting the needy and contributing to the government’s development mission.
Around 500 winter garments were distributed during the event.
