Agartala: Nov 30: A disturbing incident unfolded on Bishwa Road in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh, when a Shyamoli Paribahan bus traveling from Tripura to Kolkata came under attack. The passengers, primarily Indian nationals, faced severe intimidation and threats to their lives. According to Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, the bus was deliberately targeted by a goods-laden truck that rammed into it, attempting to cause an accident. At the same time, an auto-rickshaw collided with the bus, escalating the tension.
What followed was even more alarming. Local residents gathered around the bus and began shouting anti-India slogans, hurling abusive remarks at the Indian passengers. The situation rapidly turned hostile, with the passengers being threatened with death, causing widespread panic among them. The frightened passengers were left in a state of terror, unsure of their safety in the face of escalating hostility.
In response to this alarming incident, Minister Sushant Chowdhury condemned the attack strongly on social media, calling for swift intervention by the local administration. He urged authorities to take immediate action to protect the safety of Indian passengers and ensure that such incidents do not repeat. The minister’s remarks highlighted the urgent need for greater security and a more responsible approach from local authorities to prevent violence against foreign nationals, particularly in sensitive border regions.
The attack on the Shyamoli Paribahan bus underscores growing concerns over the safety of Indian citizens traveling through certain areas of Bangladesh. While such incidents remain rare, they serve as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities passengers face, particularly in politically charged regions. It is now crucial for both the Bangladeshi and Indian authorities to work together to guarantee the safety and security of travelers across borders.
