Agartala, November 10: In response to the ongoing petrol rationing across Tripura due to supply disruptions, Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, accompanied by senior department officials, visited multiple fuel stations in Agartala on Sunday. This move comes as a part of the state government’s efforts to ensure fair distribution and prevent black marketing of fuel.
The state is grappling with a fuel shortage after disruptions in railway tracks in Assam impacted the supply chain.
During his visit, Minister Chowdhury, who also oversees the Transport Department, interacted with consumers enduring long queues and assured them that the situation is expected to stabilize soon.
“This inconvenience will persist for the next three days, but we are doing our best to minimize the impact on consumers,” Chowdhury said while speaking to citizens and fuel station workers.
He stressed that the shortage is beyond the control of the state government but promised to monitor the situation closely to prevent unnecessary harassment of consumers.
The Minister further disclosed that discussions with the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railways have been initiated, and the fuel supply is expected to return to normal by November 14.
