Agartala, August 9: As India gears up to celebrate the first National Space Day on August 23, a special program was held in Tripura’s capital, Agartala, to honor the nation’s remarkable achievements in space exploration.
The event, organized as a prelude to National Space Day, brought together students, scientists, researchers, academicians, and political leaders to celebrate the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission was inagurated by Animesh Debbarma, Minister, Department of Science, Technology & Environment in presence of Dr Debi Prasad Duari, former director of Kolkata Birla Planetarium, Subhrajyoti Chowdhury, Member Deputy Secretary, Tripura State Council for Science & Technology, Abhisek Dasgupta,
Officer In-Charge, Tripura Space Applications Centre (TSAC) and others.
The program was a collaborative effort between the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) under the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Tripura Space Applications Centre (TSAC) under the Tripura State Council for Science & Technology.
Held at Pragna Bhavan, the event highlighted the significance of India’s advancements in space technology, particularly the achievements of ISRO, which have garnered global recognition.
The Chandrayaan-3 mission, which successfully landed on the southern hemisphere of the moon last year, has been a monumental achievement for Indian science and technology.
The Vikram Lander’s safe and soft landing at the ‘Shiv Shakti’ point, followed by the deployment of the Pragyaan Rover, marked a historic moment in India’s space journey. In recognition of this achievement, August 23 has been designated as National Space Day, with this year’s theme being “Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga.”
The celebration aims to promote the development of science, technology, and scientific temperament among the general public. It also seeks to inspire future generations by fostering an interest in space science and technology among students, while providing them with role models to look up to.
National Space Day serves as an opportunity to enhance public awareness about the importance and benefits of space exploration.
It also promotes national pride and unity by recognizing India’s significant achievements in this field.
