Agartala, July 19: A total of 10,162 nominations have been filed for the upcoming Tristar Panchayat elections in Tripura. According to the latest data from the State Election Commission, 8,992 nominations have been submitted for Gram Panchayat, 787 for Panchayat Samiti, and 383 for Zilla Parishad.
In the Gram Panchayat elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed 6,343 nominations, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPIM] 1,437, the Indian National Congress 809, Tipra Matha 231, CPIM(L)I 4, CPI 3, CPI(ML) 4, and independent candidates 161.
For the Panchayat Samiti elections, the BJP has submitted 435 nominations, CPIM 205, Congress 112, Tipra Matha 17, CPIM(L)I 2, CPI 3, and independent candidates 14.
In the Zilla Parishad elections, the BJP has filed 159 nominations, CPIM 115, Congress 98, Tipra Matha 3, CPI 1, Amara Bengali 2, and independent candidates 5.
The ruling BJP has won unopposed in the Gram Panchayat elections in four blocks: Boxanagar, Jolaibari, Nalchar, and Tepaniya, where no other party filed nominations. Similarly, the BJP won unopposed in the Panchayat Samiti elections in eleven blocks, including Bamutia, Boxanagar, Charilam, Dukli, Durga Choumuhani, Jirania, Kalyanpur, Nalchar, Old Agartala, Rajnagar, and Tepaniya.
The Tristar Panchayat elections are set to be a significant event, with a large number of nominations reflecting the active participation of various political parties and independent candidates.
