Pointers of press conference of CEO Tripura Kiran Gitte: from January 21 to 30 nomination process continued. During that period, we received 310 nominations. During scrutiny, 19 nominations were rejected. Most of these rejections were due to lack of sufficient proposers, non deposit of security deposit, Form A and Form B didn’t reach them in time. Substitute candidates were rejected due to absence of sufficient proposers. Till 3 PM today, 32 candidates out of 291 valid nominations withdrew their papers. So, now, 259 candidates are in contest.
BJP has 55 candidates CPIM 43, TIPRA Motha 42, Trinamool 28, Congress 13, IPFT 6, CPI 1, CPIML 1, AIFB 1, 58 independent candidates.
As candidate list was finalized, symbols were allotted to parties, ballot papers would be printed by tomorrow and postal ballot process would start from next week.
Polling and police personnel, essential services personnel would be availed postal ballots from February 08 in 23 Sub-Divisions.
7,700 people including 15 percent of 36,841 80-plus veterans and 1460 people out of 16860 people with disabilities would vote from hole from the same day as well.
Around 10,000 service voters would be sent e-postal ballots by tomorrow and they can cast their vote by post.
The electronic ballot papers can be printed, certified by concerned gazetted officials and it hikes the turnout till 80-90 percent.
TIPRA Motha is a registered unrecognised party but since they are registered party, they can choose before independent candidates.
The lowest candidate in any seat is two while the highest is six.
