As campaigning for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections entered its decisive phase, political activity in Teliamura subdivision intensified sharply. On Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) showcased its electoral strength through a massive bike rally in support of its candidate Billu Jamatia, drawing more than 1,500 riders and supporters.
The rally commenced near Chakmaghat Barrage, where Tripura’s Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma addressed party workers and the gathering with a confident and assertive message. Emphasising the party’s commitment to peaceful elections, he stated that intimidation tactics would not deter voters. “Terror cannot stop the BJP. People want to vote in a peaceful environment, and in that environment they will give their verdict in our favour,” he said.
The high-energy rally passed through key areas including Mungiakami, North Maharani, South Maharani, and Kalyanpur, before culminating at Manikbazar. Along the route, the procession witnessed enthusiastic participation, with supporters raising slogans and creating a vibrant election atmosphere across the subdivision.
Candidate Billu Jamatia also conducted a road show during the rally, interacting directly with residents and outlining his vision for the constituency. He highlighted key issues such as access to clean drinking water, improvements in education and healthcare, and the goal of building a self-reliant ADC that caters effectively to the needs of tribal communities.
Political observers noted that the large turnout reflects the BJP’s strong organisational machinery and its aggressive campaign strategy in the region. The party has been actively mobilising support through rallies, public meetings, and grassroots outreach initiatives in the run-up to the polls.
With the campaign now in its final stretch, Teliamura has emerged as a key battleground, witnessing heightened political engagement. While the BJP is projecting confidence through large-scale mobilisations, opposition parties are also intensifying their efforts, setting the stage for a closely contested electoral fight in the TTAADC elections.
