Tripura Chief Minister and Health & Family Welfare Minister **Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha** on **January 28, 2026**, reviewed the **Action Taken Report (ATR)** on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between **AIIMS, New Delhi** and the **Government of Tripura**. The review meeting was held through **video conferencing** in the presence of **AIIMS New Delhi Director Professor M. Srinivas** and other senior officials.
According to the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, the ATR was prepared and presented following the MoU signed on **October 17, 2025**, between AIIMS New Delhi and the department. The report outlines the progress made on various initiatives aimed at strengthening medical education, hospital services and health administration in the state.
As per the MoU, several key administrative reforms are underway and partially implemented. These include the formation of a coordinated workforce for the establishment of a **Health University**, enhancement of financial powers and the development of **IT-enabled systems**. Recruitment of health personnel is being carried out in accordance with existing government norms through the Health Directorate and the **Tripura Public Service Commission**.
In the area of human resource development, coordinated programmes with AIIMS have been initiated for **faculty development, training and skill upgradation**. Steps have also been taken to improve the quality of medical education through the introduction of new academic departments, skill development courses, amendments to service rules and specialised training at AIIMS.
Significant initiatives are also in progress to upgrade **hospital services and infrastructure**, including strengthening emergency services, expansion of ICU facilities, operationalisation of operation theatres, induction of modern medical equipment under the PPP model and improvement of the supply chain system.
To enhance patient satisfaction and digital healthcare initiatives, the state has adopted the **‘Mera Hospital’ app** and is coordinating the implementation of AIIMS’ **‘Santushti’ app** to systematically collect patient feedback and improve service quality.
The meeting was attended by **Health Secretary Kiran Gitte**, **Director of Health Services Dr. Debashree Debbarma**, **Director of Family Welfare & Preventive Medicine Dr. Anjan Das**, **Director of Medical Education Professor (Dr.) H.P. Sharma**, **Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Rajesh Anil Acharya**, **Medical Superintendent of AGMC & GBP Hospital Dr. Bidhan Goswami**, and **Principal of AGMC Professor (Dr.) Tapan Majumdar**.
The Health Department reaffirmed its commitment to comprehensive development of medical education and healthcare services in Tripura in collaboration with AIIMS New Delhi.
