Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday underscored the importance of the Constitution for a strong democracy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 while addressing the media on the sidelines of the 77th Republic Day celebrations at the Assam Rifles Parade Ground in Agartala.
Recalling the historic significance of January 26, the Chief Minister said the Constitution adopted in 1950 laid the foundation for a strong and inclusive India by guaranteeing fundamental rights such as freedom of religion, justice, equality, security and peaceful coexistence among people of diverse languages and communities.
He described the Constitution as the guiding force behind the nation’s democratic system.
Dr Saha said that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office, democracy has been further strengthened across the country, with a strong focus on good governance, social security and inclusive development.
He added that the Tripura government is working in alignment with the Centre to maintain law and order and ensure welfare benefits reach every section of society.
He also congratulated Tripura’s eminent litterateur and educationist Naresh Chandra Dev Varma from the indigenous community for being declared as Padma Shri winner for 2026.
Extending Republic Day greetings to the people of Tripura and the nation, the Chief Minister called upon citizens to actively participate in realising the Prime Minister’s dream of Viksit Bharat 2047, while simultaneously striving towards the goal of Viksit Tripura 2047.
