Tripura witnessed a proud moment in its journey towards women-led and community-driven development as Women Self-Help Group (SHG) members under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) actively participated in the nationwide inauguration of 199 Community Managed Training Centres (CMTCs) across 24 states of the country. The initiative marks a significant step in strengthening grassroots institutions and enhancing community-led capacity building.
The historic inauguration was graced by the Union Minister of Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who underscored the critical role of strong community institutions in building self-reliant and resilient rural India. He emphasized that empowering women and local leaders through structured training and skill development is central to achieving the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The CMTC initiative is being hailed as a landmark intervention aimed at nurturing grassroots leadership, promoting skill enhancement, and ensuring inclusive growth. For Tripura, the enthusiastic participation of women SHGs reflects the state’s unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment, livelihood promotion, and sustainable rural transformation under the TRLM framework.
During the online inauguration programme, TRLM officials and SHG members from different parts of Tripura expressed optimism and excitement about the role CMTCs will play in their communities. They highlighted that these centres will function as vibrant hubs for training, experience-sharing, and leadership development, enabling women and community cadres to acquire practical skills and confidence to address local challenges.
The CMTCs are expected to play a transformative role in strengthening community-managed institutions by equipping rural women with knowledge related to livelihoods, financial management, governance, and social mobilization. By placing communities at the centre of capacity building, the initiative ensures that rural citizens, especially women, become active partners in the nation’s development process.
For Tripura, participation in this nationwide initiative stands as a moment of pride, showcasing the dedication of TRLM and its women SHGs in embracing opportunities for self-reliance, leadership, and inclusive growth. The launch of CMTCs reaffirms the government’s commitment to empowering women at the grassroots and building strong, resilient, and self-sustaining rural communities across the country.
