Agartala, January 15: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma arrived in Agartala on Thursday evening and is scheduled to visit the revered Tripura Sundari Temple at Udaipur in Gomati district to offer prayers.
Dr Sarma landed at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport at around 5 pm, where he was received by Tripura BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, state Ministers Sushanta Chowdhury, and BJP state secretary Devid Debbarma.
Soon after his arrival, the Assam Chief Minister proceeded to his hotel and for there shall come to Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 sacred Shakti Peethas, to perform puja.
Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place across Agartala and Udaipur in view of the high-profile visit to ensure smooth conduct of the programme and maintain law and order.
Dr Sharma is likely to meet Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and other BJP leaders here.
Reportedly, Dr Sarma is scheduled to depart from Agartala on January 16 at around 10 am.
