Agartala, January 12:
Agartala on Monday observed National Youth Day with enthusiasm and a strong sense of purpose at Nazrul Kalakshetra, commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
The programme was organised by the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, Government of Tripura, and was attended by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, along with senior officials, students and young participants.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasised the pivotal role of youth in nation-building, stating that the energy, discipline and innovative spirit of young people are vital for realising the vision of New Tripura, New India and Vikshit Bharat.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a follower of Swami Vivekananda, India is steadily emerging as a strong nation across sectors, including the economy and defence.
Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, the Chief Minister noted that the country has a large population in the 18–25 age group, which represents immense human resource potential.
He stressed that the youth must not only be physically strong but also morally sound, disciplined and fully focused on contributing to nation-building.
Urging young people to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, Dr. Saha called upon them to remain confident, strong and dedicated towards serving society and the nation.
The event also featured the felicitation of state and national award-winning youths, with prizes and cheques distributed in recognition of their achievements. Active participation by students and young attendees added vibrancy to the celebration.
The programme echoed Swami Vivekananda’s timeless message of self-belief, strength and service, inspiring the youth to work towards a progressive, inclusive and self-reliant India.
National Youth Day, observed every year on January 12, marks the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. His ideas on character, courage, and nation-building continue to inspire generations of young Indians.
More than a commemorative occasion, National Youth Day is a moment to reflect on the aspirations, energies, and responsibilities of India’s youth—who form the backbone of the country’s journey towards Viksit Bharat @2047.
