Agartala, December 4: A woman drug peddler has fallen into the police net in Teliamura under Khowai district of Tripura on Thursday.
Four soap boxes of brown sugar was found in her possession during search near the Teliamura Railway Station area.
According to Teliamura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jayanta Dey, acting on an intelligence inputs, a special operation was conducted in the railway station vicinity. During the operation, the woman from Khayerpur in West Tripura district was detained on suspicion. Upon searching her bag, police recovered brown sugar valued at approximately ₹7 lakh. She was immediately taken into custody as per legal provisions.
A NDPS case will be registered as an investigation into the entire incident is underway with all necessary legal actions are being taken in connection with the case, OC Jayanta Dey said.
The arrest of a housewife involved in narcotics smuggling near the railway station has sparked considerable sensation in the area.
