Agartala, November 29:
Two young men sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle skidded and crashed in the Montola area along the Dharmanagar–Kailashahar Road on Saturday. The incident occurred under North Tripura district and triggered an emergency response from local residents and the fire service department.
The injured have been identified as **Shyam Tanti** and **Sushanta Tanti**, both around 19 years old and residents of Haflong Biresh Para under Dharmanagar subdivision. Firefighter official **SK Nath**, who led the rescue operation, confirmed that both youths were found in a severely injured condition and were immediately taken to the hospital for urgent medical care. Their condition is reported to be critical.
According to preliminary information, the duo was returning home from Dharmanagar on a motorcycle bearing registration number **TR05C 7443**. As they approached the Montola stretch—an area known for sharp bends and uneven road surfaces—the rider reportedly lost control of the bike. The motorcycle skidded on the road, leading to a violent crash that left both the rider and pillion with serious injuries.
Witnesses said the crash occurred suddenly, giving the youths little chance to protect themselves. Locals, noticing the injured youths lying on the roadside, promptly informed the Fire and Emergency Services. A team led by SK Nath reached the scene quickly, provided initial rescue support, and transported them to the Dharmanagar District Hospital.
Authorities are expected to examine factors such as road conditions, speeding, or possible mechanical failure to determine the exact cause of the accident. The incident has sparked concern among residents, who have repeatedly highlighted the need for better road safety measures and improved monitoring on the Dharmanagar–Kailashahar route.
The accident has cast a pall of worry over the Haflong Biresh Para area, as families and neighbours await further updates on the condition of the two critically injured youths.
