Agartala, November 8:
A day after Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma held a crucial closed-door meeting on issues concerning the development of the indigenous population, the Chief Minister on Saturday confirmed that the discussion primarily revolved around the implementation of the Tripartite (Tiprasa) Accord, which was signed nearly two years ago in New Delhi in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Silver Jubilee Conference of the Association of Physicians of India (TAPICON), Tripura State Branch, at the Vivekananda Auditorium of Tripura Medical College, Dr. Saha said, “We have discussed an issue related to the Agreement signed in Delhi, and I hope that the discussion will ultimately prove fruitful and it would be materialized.”
He further described the interaction as a preliminary discussion on the terms and conditions of the Accord — specifically, on what could be implemented and what might not fall under its purview.
The meeting between the two leaders has sent a positive signal for the NDA alliance in Tripura, which had been facing strain over the delay in implementing the Tiprasa Accord and the pending Village Committee elections.
While Chief Minister Saha openly acknowledged that the talks centered on the Accord, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, when asked for details, refrained from revealing specifics but described the interaction as “positive and a welcome move”, indicating a renewed effort toward cooperation between the BJP and Tipra Motha ahead of the upcoming TTAADC and Village Committee elections expected early next year.
