Agartala, Oct 8 — Tension has gripped Agartala following an alleged attack and vandalism at the Trinamool Congress (TMC) state headquarters. The party leadership has formally informed the Director General of Police (DGP) about the incident and announced plans to lodge a written complaint soon.
TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that immediately after the attack, the matter was reported to the DGP. He added that an official complaint would be filed shortly to ensure that the perpetrators are identified and punished.
Ghosh further recalled that similar attacks on TMC leaders and workers had taken place in Tripura in the past. “There have been repeated assaults, including on the convoy of our All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. We have specifically urged the DGP to investigate all such incidents seriously,” he stated.
Describing the resilience of the party’s workers, Ghosh said, “Mamata Banerjee’s soldiers are indomitable. Despite all obstacles, our delegation successfully reached the Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress office in Agartala. This is the same office where BJP-backed miscreants unleashed a barbaric attack yesterday, attempting to erase the voice of the opposition.”
He asserted that the TMC’s struggle to protect democracy would continue undeterred. “Our fight for democracy will go on. No amount of intimidation can silence us,” Ghosh added.
The TMC has accused the ruling BJP of resorting to violence and intimidation to suppress opposition parties in the state. Meanwhile, police sources have confirmed that they are looking into the incident and necessary security measures have been reinforced around key political offices in the city.
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from party supporters and sparked renewed debate about political violence in Tripura.
