Agartala, Sep 22: In a proud moment for Tripura, the West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat under Jirania RD Block in West Tripura district has bagged the prestigious Silver Award at the national level for excellence in e-Governance.
The award was presented during the 28th National Conference on e-Governance 2025, held at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Monday. Organized jointly by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the annual conference recognises outstanding contributions to innovative governance practices across India.
The Silver Award was conferred in the category of grassroots-level initiatives for deepening and widening service delivery, with a particular focus on initiatives implemented by Gram Panchayats and equivalent traditional local bodies. Officials said West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat was recognised for pioneering digital and citizen-centric solutions that improved transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in governance at the village level.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha congratulated the Panchayat members and officials for the honour. “This reflects our government’s commitment to ensuring good governance and bringing services closer to people’s doorsteps,” he remarked, adding that the recognition at the national level would further motivate rural bodies across the state to adopt innovative practices.
The West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat has been lauded for successfully implementing multiple digital initiatives aimed at empowering villagers, improving welfare scheme delivery, and fostering accountability in day-to-day administration. The Panchayat’s model of participatory governance, officials noted, has set an example for other grassroots institutions in the state and across the country.
The recognition marks a significant milestone for Tripura, highlighting the state’s progress in leveraging technology for inclusive development. It also strengthens the state’s position as a growing leader in digital governance and rural empowerment.
