Agartala, September 5:On the auspicious occasion of Teachers’ Day, a grand felicitation ceremony was organised at 18 Surjyamani Nagar, where nearly 500 teachers were honoured with traditional shawls, flowers, and sweets as a token of gratitude and respect.
The event, held at the Amtali School Community Hall, was graced by the presence of Shri Ram Prasad Pal, Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Shri Pal paid heartfelt tribute to the teaching community, describing them as the true architects of society.
“Teachers are the foundation of social development. They are not merely instructors of textbooks but the guiding lamps of society. At a time when today’s younger generation is often distracted by temptations and challenges, it is the role of an honest and ideal teacher to lead them on the right path,” Shri Pal remarked.
Reflecting on his own student days, he shared how he was deeply inspired by several great teachers whose values continue to guide him. He also highlighted the significance of celebrating Teachers’ Day on the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India, who firmly believed that “teachers are the backbone of the nation.”
“Teachers’ Day is not merely a formality. It is a reminder and a pledge that we must always hold our teachers in the highest regard and walk hand-in-hand with them to instil values in future generations,” Shri Pal added.
Acknowledging the felicitation of 500 teachers on this occasion, Shri Pal said that in reality, every teacher present symbolises hope and progress for thousands of families in society. “Their contribution is invaluable and unforgettable. This initiative will undoubtedly boost their morale and inspire them to continue shaping young minds with greater dedication,” he said.
The 18 Surjyamani Nagar Mandal Committee, which organised the programme, stated that the objective of the event was not only to honour teachers but also to uphold the dignity of education and highlight the role of teachers in building a value-driven society.
The ceremony concluded in a warm atmosphere of fellowship and respect, as teachers and dignitaries exchanged greetings and reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing future generations with wisdom and integrity.
