Agartala, August 9: The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples was celebrated in grand style at the TTAADC headquarters in Khumulung, Tripura, on Saturday with a vibrant programme showcasing the unity and diversity of the state’s 20 tribal communities.
Organisers stated that on this occasion alongwith honouring, preserving, and passing on these cultural treasures as a lasting source of identity and pride for future generations, they should also reaffirm the demand for the social, political, and economic rights of indigenous communities — rights they have long been striving to secure.
The celebrations featured a colourful rally and cultural performances, where traditional music and dances brought to life the unique heritage of each community.
From distinctive attire and dances to age-old rhythms and movements, every performance told a living story — a testament to Tripura’s rich and harmonious multicultural fabric.
The event also highlight the ongoing struggle of indigenous communities to secure their rightful social, political, and economic entitlements.
