Agartala: August 06: In response to the tragic death of Mihirlal Debnath, a truck driver who lost his life on Tuesday in Teliamura, the State Government has taken prompt and decisive steps to ensure accountability and support for the bereaved family.
A three-member inquiry committee has been constituted, led by the Secretary of the Revenue (Relief, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management) Department, to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The government has assured that the findings will be taken seriously, and any lapses identified will be addressed with due urgency.
As part of the immediate administrative measures, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Teliamura has been suspended with immediate effect. In addition, a show-cause notice has been issued to the District Magistrate & Collector of Khowai district, demanding an explanation over the events that led to the tragedy.
The government has also announced financial assistance of ₹6 lakh to the family of the deceased. This includes ₹4 lakh from the Disaster Management Fund and ₹2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, aimed at providing some measure of relief during this difficult time.
To express solidarity with the grieving family, Shri Tinku Roy, Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare & Social Education, and Smt. Santana Chakma, Hon’ble Minister for Industry & Commerce, will personally visit the residence of the deceased.
The State Government reiterates its unwavering commitment to justice, transparency, and the welfare of every citizen. Authorities have emphasized that such incidents will not be taken lightly, and strict action will follow based on the inquiry report to uphold the people’s trust in governance.
