Agartala, July 24: Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and operational readiness of its women personnel, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Mahila Barrack at Border Outpost (BOP) Ekinpur under the 69 Battalion in South Tripura district.
The new facility was inaugurated by Shri Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Inspector General, Frontier Headquarters Tripura. Designed with modern infrastructure and amenities, the Mahila Barrack aims to provide a safe, comfortable, and conducive living environment for the women praharis stationed at the sensitive border outpost.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, IG Ashwani Kumar Sharma said, “The BSF has always been at the forefront of integrating and empowering women in its ranks. This new Mahila Barrack reflects our continuous efforts to enhance the quality of life and boost the morale of our women personnel.”
The new accommodation block includes modern washrooms, hygienic living quarters, proper lighting, ventilation, and secure facilities tailored to meet the unique needs of female personnel deployed in remote and high-security zones.
BSF officials highlighted that the force has been progressively increasing the induction of women into combat and border-guarding roles, in line with the Government of India’s larger agenda of women empowerment and gender inclusion in armed forces.
The barrack is not just an infrastructural upgrade but also a symbol of BSF’s dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive operational environment for all its personnel. It is expected to significantly improve the deployment efficiency and morale of mahila jawans operating in challenging border areas.
With the inauguration of this facility, the BSF continues to set benchmarks in promoting gender equality and ensuring that women personnel receive the infrastructure and support they deserve while serving the nation.
