Agartala, Jul 20: Pradip Dutta Bhowmik, the News Editor of leading Bengali daily *Dainik Sambad*, passed away on Sunday afternoon at AIIMS, New Delhi. He was undergoing treatment for lung-related ailments and breathed his last around 3:45 PM.
Bhowmik had been a respected name in Tripura’s journalistic community, known for his balanced reporting and editorial leadership. His untimely demise has left a deep void in the media fraternity and among readers who closely followed his work.
Expressing sorrow, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha took to social media and wrote, “I was in regular touch with him and his family during his treatment. His untimely demise is a deeply saddening moment for all of us.” The Chief Minister also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Several ministers, political leaders, colleagues, and well-wishers joined in mourning the loss of Dutta Bhowmik, remembering him as a sincere, committed journalist who upheld journalistic ethics throughout his career.
According to family sources, his mortal remains will be flown to Agartala on Monday. Arrangements are being made for people from all walks of life to pay their last respects to the veteran journalist upon arrival in Tripura.
